Dipolair creates music that works in all settings and transcends genres. His openness to a wide range of sound is what has both made him a widely loved favourite, but also someone who operates in his own parallel musical world. We had a chance to talk to him, so enjoy your reading and check out his latest releases.
Hello ! Where can we find you now? How did you start your day?
After having traveled a lot, I am currently based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In the morning, I always take a moment to respond to the messages I receive during the night (because of the time difference with Europe), I take a look on social networks, I go for a run and I listen to music to put me in the right mood.
When did the idea of starting a project start to take shape? Has it always been something you wanted to do?I have been a musician and producer for many years. I had several activities in parallel but since 2020, I focus on production and live performances. Being an artist in 2022 is a very time-consuming activity because in addition to being a musician, you have to be a sound engineer, community manager, graphic designer… I spend a lot of energy to bring my music to life but very satisfying when I give pleasure when performing in front of an audience
How would you define the sound of your latest work? What is the concept behind?
I recently met a young Brazilian producer called ANGELLO(BR). He wanted to collaborate with me, which I accepted with pleasure because I like to mix musical universes. Together we created a Melodic Techno track called «Do You Remember». It was a challenge to work on this title because I produce little techno music with such a high bpm but it was a very interesting experience. As it’s a collaboration, everyone comes with different influences and it’s the combination of all that that gives the particular character to this track. The result is great and the feedback is super good.
What artists are you interested in these days?I love the scene from Northern Europe, Germany and the Netherlands with artists such as Stefan Bodzin, Innellea, Ben Bohmer, Joris Voorn, Eelke Kleijn, Einmusik…
How do you manage to combine such disparate genres? How do you manage to give them unity and harmony? What do they have in common for you?
These artists each have different universes but what I like about them is the energy and the emotion. That’s what I try to convey through my music. Even if I like to explore different sound universes, I like to bring strength and at the same time soul to my productions, make people dance, bring them joy and make them escape.
How would you define your sound?
I’m not focused on a specific style in particular even if my music is more oriented towards Progressive House and Melodic House. Depending on the encounters, the inspirations and the moments when I compose, I like to explore other sound worlds. The basis remains electronic music, with a powerful sound to make people dance. But I like, at the same time, to make them travel in different sound universes with the addition of ethnic influences.
Can you tell us something about your current or future projects?
On May 20, I release two new tracks. the first is a collaboration with Brazilian producer ANGELLO(BR). Together, we composed «Do You Remember», a Melodic Techno track which will be released on the Manawa Records label. The second called «Introspection» is more Melodic House with vintage influences which will be released on the Cactunes Records label. I’ve produced a lot of tracks recently and I’m going to have regular releases in 2022. An other new track called «Ionica», which will be released in a few weeks, is a collaboration with an Italian musician who plays traditional instruments from Calabria. I’m super proud of this collaboration because the track is powerful and at the same time very emotional.
