Hi Avi Sic! How are you?
Great, playing catchup fresh off a busy month!
Can you give us a sneak peek into your upcoming projects and releases? What can fans expect from your music in the near future?
I have a new Bass House single dropping on No Definition (imprint of Enormous Tunes). You can expect a release from me every month for the foreseeable future.
What about live shows? Are there any exciting new live show dates you can share with us?
Tons of live shows. I’m looking forward to playing support for Matroda in August and Breathe Carolina later this month.
How do you approach your live shows and what elements do you prioritize to create an unforgettable experience for your audience?
I don’t plan my sets. I feel out the crowd and make selections in the moment. That makes my shows more personal, the audience can feel that I’m feeling them out and we build on that energy together.
Are there any exciting collaborations in the works that you can share with us?
I’m working on a remix for Kelli-Leigh’s recent original release “Never Dance Again”. She’s a massive vocalist on some of my favorite tracks (Duke Dumont, James Hype, Bingo Players, etc). I’m really excited about this one.
As an artist who constantly pushes boundaries, how do you see your sound evolving in the coming years? Are there any new genres or styles you’re eager to explore?
Though I play a lot of Bass House, Tech House, and EDM, I consider myself a genre-less DJ – I’m able to play it all and mix it together in a fun way. I play all kinds of shows that cater to many different crowds. One minute I’m playing a Dance track, the next is a Hip Hop song then into a Trap drop. So yes, tons of genres I’d love to explore. Evolving comes with time. The more I create the more I evolve, both in my skill set and also my musical taste. I appreciate all genres of music.
What role do your fans play in shaping your music and career? How do you engage with them and make sure their feedback is incorporated into your work?
They play the most important role. It’s amazing to see people from all over the world connect with a song, a mix, a DJ set, etc. I am always thinking of my following and how I can make them happy. My DM’s are always open!
How do you balance your own artistic vision with the expectations and demands of the music industry? What advice do you have for aspiring artists navigating the ever-changing landscape?
It’s not easy. The industry is a beast. It’s fast moving and with social media you really have to multi-task. Playing live, creating music in the studio, creating content, and all the backend stuff is a full day’s work everyday. I make lists and reminders for myself, that helps.
Are there any specific goals or milestones you hope to achieve with your upcoming projects? How do you envision these releases propelling your career and artistic journey forward?
I’d love to break more tracks on the Beatport charts and make my way onto certain playlists. Getting signed by certain labels is huge for me. It’s hard to realize your progression day to day, but every bit of work counts and eventually, those milestones do happen. There’s so much I want to do but also when I look back, it’s clear that all the pieces are coming together and I appreciate all those smaller milestones that got me to this point.
What are your goals and aspirations for the future? In general, are there any specific milestones or achievements you are aiming for in your career?
Going on tour, playing the music I love without any restrictions. That’s the goal.
