As Bubba Brothers’ fame continues to grow, we caught up with Eliseu Correia and Justino Santos to learn more about their journey in the industry, their creative process, and their advice for aspiring DJs and producers.
Hi Bubba Brothers, hope you’re all well. We want to start by asking, how did you both meet and decide to start producing music together, and what inspired you to incorporate Tribal and groovy elements in your sets?
Hi 🙂 thanks for the invitation. We were looking for our musical direction, where we could make the difference and where we felt people that attend our shows felt more the beat. So Tribal was what made everyone dance and move, that’s what we wanted.
You’ve played at numerous venues around the world, including Ministry of Sound in London and Es Paradis in Ibiza. What’s been your favorite gig so far, and why?
Very difficult to say, all of them have their special place in our career, but we think Es Paradis being the first time in Ibiza, was the most challenging.
What led you to start your own label, and how do you decide which tracks to release?
Basically, we wanted to be independent and release our own stuff without having to look for someone to distribute it.
Your music has also earned you a spot in the Beatport charts, your tracks reaching the top 1 of Melodic House and Techno. How did it feel to achieve such success, and what impact has it had on your career?
Oh yeah…that was an amazing feeling and we miss it…hahaha, it’s just one of those moments you never forget. We hope to be able to repeat that 🙂 that was a crucial moment for us, opening doors for gigs, better clubs, better press, radio, etc.
What do you think sets your music apart from others in the industry, and how do you continue to evolve your sound?
I think it’s the genuine intensity we put behind every gig. People feel that we are feeling the music, so that has a great ‘tribe’ effect and a communion of energy between us and the fans.
What have been some of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
We’ve had many. I don’t think we could/should highlight only one…maybe playing in Ibiza…
Can you tell us more about how you create such an immersive and engaging musical experience for your fans?
It comes naturally. We look to create sounds and beats that mix Latin, Tribal beats that can get people moving on the dancefloor.
What do you think sets your performances apart from others, and how do you connect with the crowd during your sets?
As we said, the intensity and the fact that no set is the same. We play by heart and feeling…meaning is like ‘show cooking’ of music…we never know before what we gonna play…so the public loves the genuinity.
Your goal is to spread your music and vibes around the world, what’s next for Bubba Brothers, and how do you plan to continue growing your brand and fanbase?
We will play more and more in Europe, next being UK, France, Ibiza and Amsterdam, and we will continue to release more new music. Hopefully that will bring us to bigger festivals where we want to play.
Finally, what advice would you give to aspiring producers and DJs who want to make it in the industry, and what do you think are some of the key skills and traits that are necessary for success?
Be genuine, be yourself. Find your own style and follow your intuition. Love your music and your fans.
