We have had the pleasure of interviewing the producer JOIX and this has been the result.
WHO – JOIX – interview
How would you present your work to someone who doesn’t know you?
In the best case, they are in the same room when I play a live act on a good PA.
And your last job? Where is it born from? And where do you want to lead?
My last job was the curation of remixes for a remix compilation, where I also made a new mix of an older track by me called «Mantra». It was the right time to bring out this special song again and ask some very talented artists to remix it.
What message would you like to convey to the public?
Be authentic, and make the things you are believing in.
How did your last project come about?
The remix compilation was already longer in my mind as a vague idea and after the Covid phase, it felt right to enforce it.
What do you want to transmit in this work? What is the concept behind it?
The concept of the track «Mantra» was to couple own lyrics with deep bass and groovy rhythm to generate a mystical feeling, as you can feel after hours of dancing to electronic music. I wanted to capture these magic feelings with these special words, which are looping like a mantra on top of the beats like a rhythm element of its own.
As for your studio, what is it currently made up of?
I have lots of analog synthesizer modules, mostly by Doepfer and drum machines and effects as well.
What is the one instrument you would never get rid of, no matter what?
My Yamaha CS1X, which was the first Synthesizer I got in 1996. It still is part of my studio as a master keyboard.
What was the last record store you visited? And what did you salvage from there?
Sometimes I like to buy a vinyl. Last time it was a record by Claudio PRC on Delsin Records.
Do you have hope for the future of music? How would you like the future of the music industry to be?
With AI also music production will change a lot for sure, but I think human creativity still will play an important role in future.
Can you reveal some future projects?
My plan is to bring out an EP in autumn this year.
What makes you happy?
When I finished a track.
What bothers you?
Sometimes it’s too much distraction cause of Social Media.
