«Computers of the World» releases soon, so we sat down with Frank Cogliano to find out a little bit more, and delve into things in a little bit more detail. Read on.
Hi there ! Where can we find you right now? How did you start your day?
I had a dentist appointment this morning, so I drove to midtown manhhatan.
When did the idea for your new record take shape?
In January – February 2020 I had sort of a new years resolution that I would force myself to write one piece of music per day, so that I would keep to a schedule and have some structure so I would actually create something. Some distracting things happened shortly thereafter and I forgot about it until about a year later, when I realized I liked some of the tracks and decided to release them.
How would you define the sound of your latest work? What is the concept behind?
It’s definitely nostalgic of the pre-2000s era in general. I grew up in the 90s so these sounds mean a lot to me. I’d just say its a tribute to a certain time. The first side is upbeat and the second side is more ambient.
What artists are you interested in these days?
Nina Hagen, Googoosh
Where would you say your sound sits, firmly in one genre or a mixture?
A mixture, because I listen to all kinds of music. I think everyone does. Genres are ways of organizing music but its never easy to do that. I listen to different genres depending on my mood and I think a lot of other people are like that too.

How do you see the music scene at the moment?
I think its always good when artists have more control over what they do, it makes for better music.
Tell us something about your current or future projects?
Well I am very excited about «Computers of the World», it is my first album, and my first album on vinyl, so its very exciting for me.
