INTERVIEW WITH TON 618

This rendering shows a snapshot from a cosmological simulation of a Lyman-alpha Blob similar to LAB-1. This simulation tracks the evolution of gas and dark matter using one of the latest models for galaxy formation running on the NASA Pleiades supercomputer. This view shows the distribution of gas within the dark matter halo, colour coded so that cold gas (mainly neutral hydrogen) appears red and hot gas appears white. Embedded at the centre of this system are two strongly star-forming galaxies, but these are surrounded by hot gas and many smaller satellite galaxies that appear as small red clumps of gas here. Lyman-alpha photons escape from the central galaxies and scatter off the cold gas associated with these satellites to give rise to an extended Lyman-alpha Blob.

We welcome TON 618 to Who Music Magazine for our interview series today.

Hi there ! Where can we find you right now? How did you start your day?

TON 618 is always aware with nature and Science, so after some days spent in Iceland, between fire and ice, and few ones on the mountains, is time to go back to work on new music.

When did the idea for your new record take shape?

TON 618 debut album took shape during 2020, during the pandemic.

It goes on until summer of 2022, so it takes about 2 years to be arranged.

The album came from the idea to make people aware to Science, mostly Space, astrophysics and astronomy, through music.

And, of course, a new shape of experimental, electronic music.

How would you define the sound of your latest work? What is the concept behind it?

Who is inspiring you most right now?

Past, present and future are represented by the universe itself.

Seems easy to say, but it is simply the truth.

Considering that one of the most important elements from the project came from the Space, sometimes even the inner space, is not hard to imagine that the concept of present is very relative.

So sometimes the music is very old, sometimes is very new.

Remember that in space time is a very relatively thing.

Where would you say your sound sits, firmly in one genre or a mixture?

Hard to describe TON 618 sound.

Some tracks are clearly acoustic, some are experimental, Drone or abstract, few even Techno.

So the genre is not easy to define.

Would say Space Drone, or Space Ambient, cause some tracks contain literally “sounds from Space “.

How do you see the music scene at the moment?

Technology has affected many of the people inside music industry, so sometimes music scene is very interesting, sometimes is very boring.

You just have to check more.

Tell us something about your current or future projects?

Space Is Full Of Noise, debut album from TON 618, has been created as a thing to keep people aware to Science, Space & music.

It has been created in 2 years, using various magnetic fields, gravitational waves and other things from the inner Universe.

For the future projects, it depends by the Science discoveries.
