Who Music Magazine welcome Alex Lur for a interview as they release their latest record. Hi there ! Where can we find you right now? How did you start your day? I just landed in Montreal yesterday after a crazy show in Riyadh. Drinking coffee and eating some dates that I brought with me for breakfast. When did the idea for your new record take shape? Dish Dash started with a great idea for song. They sent it to me for feedback and I added my touch to it; melodies, synths, etc.. How would you define the sound of your latest work? What is the concept behind? It's a mix of melodic techno and indie dance. I take the dark and niche aspects of techno and incorporate them into a suitable format for people to dance to. What artists are you interested in these days? Groj, Vigro Deep, Bones, Jean Dawson Where would you say your sound sits, firmly in one genre or a mixture? Definitely a mixture. I hate being in the same place! How do you see the music scene at the moment? In Canada at least, people are thirsting for parties. Lockdowns have hit us pretty hard and everyone craves social contact and also good parties. I think the current state of the pandemic has opened opportunities for local artists to build communities around them. You're seeing a resurgence of underground parties and raves. Tell us something about your current or future projects? I have a a couple releases lined up in the coming months that sound similar to what I have out now (Melodic Techno, Indie Dance), but want to explore African Music right after!
