Who Music Magazine welcome Cari for todays interview. We dig into what makes them tick, in life, music and more.
Hi there ! Where can we find you right now? How did you start your day?
Hi there! Right now you can find me behind my pc answering these questions. Hahah, no just kidding! I had a quiet morning together with my 2 year old daughter and after that I did the last few tweeks on two toplines and a demo before I’m going on a holiday this weekend
When did the idea for your new record take shape?
This idea was born at the beginning of February. Eugenio Tokarev sent me an amazing instrumental and I immediately was captured by it’s melancholic athmosphere. I felt the music needed a lyric and lyric melody to complement this. The lyric is about finding some sense of peace withing yourself by shutting yourself off from the chaos of the outside world.
How would you define the sound of your latest work? What is the concept behind it?
To give my voice an ethereal quality I sang in my higher vocal range on this track. I think it underlines the meaning of the lyrics even more. Combined with Eugenio’s sound and a powerful drop I think the track is both fragile and powerfull at the same time
Who is inspiring you most right now?
Definitely my daughter! But music wise there is so much great music at the moment I can’t even begin to mention the ones that inspire me most. And it’s all kinds of different genres, from uplifting trance to classical music
Where would you say your sound sits, firmly in one genre or a mixture?
Right now people mostly know me from my work in the trance genre. But I also like to make more poppy tracks. For instance some years ago I wrote a track for the Eurovision Song Contest (which wasn’t picked haha).
How do you see the music scene at the moment?
To me it’s a constantly evolving scene; more and more subgenres are emerging. This is great for creativity and I feel that musicians shouldn’t be pinned on just one genre but explore the others as well if they want to. And hey shouldn’t be judged for it.
Tell us something about your current or future projects?
I’m very excited about my upcoming trance projects together with some very talented producers like RAM, Allen Watts & Rene Ablaze and Alessandra Roncone. I’m trying out different ways of singing on those tracks, from softer and low key to my belt-voice. I hope the peolpe will like it!
Meanwhile I’m working on something else: Not many people know that 20 years ago I started out in music with producing tracks, even before I started singing. Lately I’ve been exploring this again and I already produced a few tracks. I still have a lot to learn and I’m a terrible perfectionist, so it will take a while before you hear my first solo projects, but bare with me, you will one day!
