INTERVIEW: Miss Min.D

Seattle’s Uniting Souls Music continues to make waves, with a run of eleven consecutive Beatport Top 10 releases.

Their new Summer Soulstice 2023 compilation hit #1 on the Beatport charts and charted in the Top 10 across five genres including Deep House, Jackin’, Funky, Indie Dance and Electronica. The compilation consists of 14 new and original tracks, offering something for everyone, with new music from seasoned veterans and inspired newcomers, including the UK’s Greenbay Jackers, New Delhi’s Hamza Rahimtula, label residents Jordan Strong, Jon Lee and D.Guti, and a solid roster of talented West Coast DJ/producers yearning to express their shared love of underground dance music.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing MissMin.D

Tell us about your song «Expression,» which is part of the new Summer Soulstice 2023 compilation on Uniting Souls Music
I created this song around the vocal. There was another situation I was faced with during this time where I felt a strong sense to express a need for change.Femme artists in the music community are constantly asking for progress and change around us.
Wanting to be seen as equal and always trying to lift each other up through this male dominated industry. One of those ways I express myself and send those messages is through my music production. You can find that within several songs I have made with vocals about social justice and change.

How has your creative process been?
I wanted to create something with a strong message with a fun chunky but funky beat. I also wanted to test my limits by making something more in line with what I would play out to a crowd.

What hardware and software have you worked with?
Ableton 10 and my Push 2

What are your present and future projects?
I have a Breaks track coming out on Feral One Records Compilation in August called Luna. Snapdragon and myself have a melodic /breaks track that is close to being done. I also have 3 tracks almost across the finish line in Tech House and Breaks that I’m excited to shop some labels soon!
