Hi Terry Golden, how are you?
Feeling good, going into summer mode soon, always happy times
Can you walk us through your creative process for ‘My Head’?
Absolutely – I usually start with a melodic idea that comes to mind, and then build around it. In this case, I came up with a simple chord progression that I thought would be catchy and uplifting. Then, I added layers of synths, drums, and percussion to create a fuller sound. After that, I worked on the vocals and lyrics, which I wanted to be fun and playful to match the overall mood of the track.
What inspired you to create this track?
I was inspired to create «My Head» as a response to the challenging times we’ve been through recently, many things have been on the to-do list, and it was time to get it out of ‘My Head’. I wanted to create something that would make people feel good and want to dance, and the melodic and upbeat nature of the track reflects that intention.
Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while creating this track?
One of the main challenges I faced with this track was creating a balance between the different elements. I wanted the vocals to be prominent without overpowering the instrumental parts, and I had to make sure that the bassline was complementary to the melody without being too busy or distracting.
Can you tell us about any technical aspects of the production process that you think are particularly important?
In terms of the production process, I think it’s important to pay attention to the mix and mastering of the track. Having a clean and well-balanced mix can make all the difference in how the track is perceived by the listener. It’s also important to use high-quality plug-ins, sounds and instruments to achieve a professional sound.
How do you go about creating a build-up that keeps listeners engaged?
When creating a build-up, I like to gradually introduce new elements and increase the intensity of the track. This can be done with the use of filters, risers, and drum fills. I also like to make sure that the build-up leads naturally into the drop, so that the listener is kept engaged and excited.
How do you create a drop that is both satisfying and surprising for the listener?
To create a drop that is both satisfying and surprising, I like to use unexpected sounds or rhythms that catch the listener off guard. This can include adding a new melody or changing the rhythm of the drums. I also like to make sure that the drop is impactful and has a strong sense of energy and movement. For ‘My Head’, is more straight forward, which is another way to keep the listeners engaged, and in the end not letting them down.
How do you approach crafting a bassline that complements the melody and other elements of the track?
When crafting a bassline, I try to keep it simple and complementary to the melody. I focus on creating a solid foundation for the track and making sure that the bassline has a good groove and rhythm. I also like to experiment with different sounds and effects to make the bassline more interesting and unique.
What do you hope listeners take away from your music and performances?
Ultimately, I hope that listeners take away a sense of joy and positivity from my music and performances. I want my music to be a source of inspiration and a way for people to escape and connect with others.
