Up-and-coming dance-pop artist Freddie Future is back once again with «Haunted,» another groundbreaking sound masterpiece. The musician’s latest original production is paired with riveting visual accompaniment, and it also directly follows «Loving You (So High)» from the end of August, marking it as the talent’s second release of the year thus far. Plus, it follows previous acclaimed singles like «Leave Me Cold,» «Too Heavy,» and 2019’s «Like It Never Happened.» Now available through Physical Presents, «Haunted» is available to listen to on all streaming platforms.
We have had the pleasure of interviewing him and this has been the result.
Hi there! Where can we find you right now? How did you start your day?
I’m living in Toronto which is my home base. I start my day with coffee. Then I walk over to my home studio set up and see what ideas I can cook up. I’ll usually try to get some activity in throughout the day like soccer or another workout to help clear my mind and make my body feel good.
When did the idea of starting a project start to take shape? Has it always been something you wanted to do?
The creation of FF took some time but I released the first single in January of 2019. I recently dropped ‘Haunted’ which is the 2nd single of this new project.
How would you define the sound of your latest work? What is the concept behind?
‘Haunted’ is an Indie electronic / chill house vibe.It has a dark tone which really inspired the lyrics to come pouring out. The track talks about trying to make a relationship work when it’s already run its course…the feeling of being so enamoured and infatuated with someone that it’s impossible to move on. No matter how much time passes, you’re still haunted by that person’s love and it’ll always be a part of you.
What artists are you interested in these days?
Rufus Du Sol, The Blaze, Elderbrook, Shallou
How do you manage to combine such disparate genres? How do you manage to give them unity and harmony? What do they have in common for you?
I like to think my music is a combination of all the music I listen to. I’m open to all genres of music as a good song is a good song. I like combining vintage sounds with current and fresh ones.
How would you define your sound?
Indie electronic / chill house
Can you tell us something about your current or future projects?
My new single ‘ Haunted’ is out now along with a dope visual. We really took time with the accompanying moody visuals as they help tell the story and set the tone of the song.
