Boxon label head Julien Minet joins us today on Who Music Magazine for our daily interview. Ahead of the VA release “Boxon Makes Me Sunny” we wanted to find out a little bit more, more about his music, his life and what matters to him.
Hi there ! Where can we find you right now? How did you start your day?
I am in front of my computer, digging new sounds for upcoming Dj Sets. I started my day with music, then a good shower, then breakfast 🙂
When did the idea for your new record take shape?
It took place when I thought about the time I was living in Cameroun, Africa – I lived there during the first ten years of my life.
How would you define the sound of your latest work? What is the concept behind it?
I would define it as : deep house music with a lot of percussions. The concept is to take inspiration from my life experiences and then put all that into the music I create.
Who is inspiring you most right now?
Right now, I love listening to all kinds of electronic music with African or Hispanic sounds in it.
Where would you say your sound sits, firmly in one genre or a mixture?
It is difficult to answer that question as I like to experiment each time I am creating a new track… But saying one genre, I would say : HOUSE MUSIC.
How do you see the music scene at the moment?
There are a lot of young collectives who propose nice digging and nice parties with live or dj sets.
Tell us something about your current or future projects?
I will be making more house music in a near future 🙂
