Techno in Brazil has a lot of quality and that is something we cannot deny. But in addition to established names such as ANNA, Wehbba or Victor Ruiz, there is a large wave of new promises emerging on the scene, one that we highlight today is Mezadri, DJ, producer and also headlabel of the party label House One.
Relatively new to the game, he only started DJing in 2017 and producing in 2019. With persistence and dedication, some pretty interesting things have started to happen in his career over the last year, including significant gigs at Mov.E and Ressonancia festival, and his debut at the D-Edge club in January this year, one of the most respected in the world, where he recorded and made his set available.
As a producer, it was only in 2022 that his work began to attract attention. Initially with the EP Ballare, by Underground Records; later, he conquered Neu Gravity with the EP Imperium and, more recently, he had his main release so far: Ponto EP, by Private Techno, which reached excellent positions on Beatport.
Among the highlights, it reached Top #1 in Techno releases (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic), Top #7 in Techno releases (Peak time / Driving) and a Top #64 in overall releases (of all genres), which yielded support from Marco Carola, Richie Hawtin, Mosher, Markantonio and other artists.
The EP emerged shortly after Mezadri absorbed influences from Time Warp in Brazil, where he felt the weight and power of Techno from some of the best DJs in the world. Shortly after finishing the two original tracks, in less than a month, he realized he had something good on his hands.
“Whenever I finish a track, I think exactly about its impact, imagining the people’s reaction when listening. I like to convey the same sensation / emotion that I feel when I produce or when I listen, the joy, the shudder, the ecstasy…”, he comments.
Despite his focus being essentially on Techno, Mezadri states that he prefers not to be tied to a single style: “I like to move between Techno and House, I can adapt well to the track regardless of the situation”, thus, the artist has been building a profile guided by versatility, dancefloor feeling and most important of all: conveying joy when playing.
Even having a short time as a producer, he believes that it is very important to let the music flow and create without so much pressure. “On this last EP I did exactly that and it was the most expressive work of my career so far. In my opinion, too much demand hinders the process”.
Later this year, he should release more music. We will closely monitor what comes next.
