Talented UK-based artist Rudosa champions a fusion of hypnotic techno with euphoric undertones that transports you back to a simpler time where nostalgia and emotion take over. After several years of successful releases on high-profile labels, she now focuses primarily on her own label, Moments in Time.
This June, we see the label release her third VA, quite an achievement in just her second year in a row. The label has always prided itself on showcasing many unknown artists, those who have made Rudosa’s head spin with some talented production skills. Featured at a previous VA, Yorkshireman Balrog returns with his heaviest, darkest techno, with a debut collaboration alongside Rudosa for ‘Names Not Down’, an energetic drum workout with a cheeky nod to ’90s clubbing.
VXPX are an anonymous duo who express themselves through hard and fast sounds with a touch of 90’s energy wrapped in industrial soul. His song ‘Without ID’ is dystopian and hypnotic, with menacing, soaring synth work.
Skoden is a UK-based DJ/producer who broke into the industry with his own label, YAWA, in 2020. Navigating the difficult post-Covid-19 waters very successfully, he is now signed to Omen, Flesh and Hammers and others.
This compilation is a ray of sonic light to keep us moving forward in these strange times. Full of energy with all the nuances and flavors of left field. Conceived as a meeting, but also as a journey through different parts of the world, the album is full of dark and hypnotic sounds and counterpoint with overwhelming rhythms. And the fact is that, faced with a musical panorama that tends towards uniformity, this album is presented as a collection of songs, not of DJ tools, but of tracks that work just as well at home as they do in a club. Themes that take us beyond the known, embracing the mystery, a darkness yet to be discovered. Lose yourself exploring outside of your local sphere of influence with these house tunes.
The result of this V/A is very personal, and manages to unleash a feeling that is sometimes disconcerting, familiar and welcoming at the same time, marking the end of one stage and the beginning of another, for a label that has never stopped. . . . surprise us, give us premium positive vibes and bet on artists capable of questioning, like few others, what is established. A delight only suitable for music lovers.
