Brooklyn-based DJ and producer, Saint Velez has emerged out of the notoriously industrial New York scene, cutting his teeth in warehouses from Bushwick to Bedstuy. Having released a slew of singles and EPs in 2021, including his charting number, ‘Load of My Mind’ via Back In Black Recordings, and ‘Cigarette Cuts’ via T78’s Autektone Dark, the rising talent looks to reenter the release radar with his debut full-length LP, Warehouse Poetry via De-Konstrukt Records.
This work demonstrates the particular way in which the producer understands sound, located at the opposite end of the commercial, the generic, what works: what he does is, on the contrary, a kind of unstable magma of pulsations and glows, with traces melodic. and blurred textures, pursuing a serene, spiritual, almost ascetic expression. All those languages and influences from which he was nurtured dialogue in this EP, creating new, different and highly evolved sound organisms.

Warehouse Poetry is a serious work, carefully cared for, that lends itself to starting it and not returning to reality until it is finished: the headphones are like the oxygen cylinder that allows you to design this great sound twist to the bottom, of this cosmic orbit, and being there in a state of hypnotic fascination, which allows us to reflect, through folklore, on our past.
Warehouse Poetry dives into a darker, more arcane vibe than the project’s first single. The track opens with creepy synths, leading into crooked and warped basslines. Written over the course of the last two years, the song reflects the producer’s isolation and anxiety brought on by the uncertainty of the pandemic.
