Usatov’s house music EP, Get up Again, was released on August 21 on his Dive Deep label and is packed with wonderful, bouncy anthems, including some sassy old-school house, a wonderful minimalist house track, and, to top it all off. To top it off, two tracks are pretty deep and have their own unique style. Now he’s back with a beautiful remixes EP featuring colorful reworkings of Get up Again. They shine with a variety of fresh interpretations from talented producers. The Maximillion and Behind That Ears remixes are quite deep and atmospheric, while the Murphy and Dirty Frequenz remixes are more energetic and wonderful.
Usatov is a producer and DJ based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His sound ranges from deep and melancholic to wonderful and fast-paced as he travels through different genres. Often his love for him of the orchestral sound, such as strings and warm acoustic elements, is reflected in his productions and accompanied by harsh, punchy baselines. He has several releases on his own Dive Deep label that represent his vision of him: a synthesis of deep sound genres. This time he selected an extraordinary group of talented producers to bring this vision to life once again.
Murphy and Maximillion are based in Hamburg, Germany and are well-known influencers within the house scene. Murphy’s Fearless minimalist house remix shines with organic, up-tempo beats, while Lauter Records co-founder Maximillion created a progressive deep house remix of Usatov’s Deeper that has a special Lo-Fi vibe.
Hannover-based producers Dirty Frequenz and Behind That Ears created a new sound from what was at hand: Dirty’s reworking resembles the tech soundscapes accompanied by catchy rap lines from Get up Again’s Usatov, while Behind That Ears reimagined the original Catch the Train vibe and created a very deep and dreamy driving style.
The songs that are recorded on this album show Usatov’s particular way of understanding the sound, located at the opposite end of the commercial, the generic, what works: what he does is, on the contrary, a kind of unstable magma of pulsations and radiance, of melodic strokes and blurred textures, pursuing a serene, spiritual, almost ascetic expression. All those languages and influences from which they were nurtured dialogue on this album, creating new, different and highly evolved sound organisms.
The idea behind this album refers us to one of the crucial attributes of music, and that is its inexhaustible ability to generate states of mind that protect us at all times. Its meaning remains in the hands of lovers of electronic music, beyond the dance floor and all hedonism.
